Affiliate disclosure
Last updated September 2026.
The short version
Mowdar is free to use and carries no advertising. Some of the links to products we recommend are affiliate links, which means we are paid a small commission if you buy through them. It costs you nothing extra, and it does not decide what we recommend.
Where we are with this
As of September 2026 there are no affiliate links anywhere on the site. We are applying to a handful of garden retail programmes, and this page goes up first because most of them want to read it before they will consider an application. Everything below describes how the links will work once they exist.
Where the links appear
Only where the model has already said something needs doing. There are two places:
- On a lawn forecast page, below the verdict, when the forecast opens a treatment window. If no window is open, nothing appears. The seeding window counts: soil temperature and germination thresholds sit on the same page.
- In a resource article, beside the sentence that makes the recommendation, and in a short list at the end of the article.
Not on the home page, not on the method page, not in the RSS feed, and not in any email we send you. One product box per page, at most. No pop-ups, no sticky bars, no banners.
Every affiliate link is labelled where it sits, in the same box as the link itself. You should never have to come to this page to find out that a link pays us.
What the money does not change
The forecast is worked out before any product is chosen. No verdict, no rating, no ordering of the ten days, and no wording changes because one retailer pays more than another. We choose what to recommend on the agronomy, then look for somewhere to buy it. The commission rate is settled after that, never before.
When the model says to stay off the grass, that is all it says. Frost, frozen ground, snow, waterlogging, dormancy: on those days we show you nothing to buy. The same goes for a week where the right answer is to leave the lawn alone.
Prices
We do not print prices. A price we typed last spring is wrong by summer, and a stale price is a quick way to look bought. Check it at the retailer.
Amazon
Where a link goes to Amazon, this applies, in the wording Amazon requires:
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
